WhatsApp has recently begun testing a new feature called ‘Read All’, designed to simplify the management of unread messages, especially for those overwhelmed by a cluttered chat list. This feature, currently available to beta testers on Android (version 2.24.20.19), allows users to mark all unread messages as read with just a few taps.
How the ‘Read All’ Feature Works
- Accessing the Feature: To use the ‘Read All’ feature, users simply need to tap the three-dot menu located at the top right of their chat list.
- Marking All Chats as Read: Once in the menu, select ‘Read All’, and all your unread chats will instantly be marked as read—no need to manually select each conversation.
- Limitations: The feature does not affect archived chats, meaning that if you’ve archived any conversations with unread messages, they’ll remain unread unless manually marked.
This is a great quality-of-life improvement for users who receive a high volume of messages, especially from group chats. While it’s currently in beta for Android users, iOS users can expect it in future updates. This update is part of WhatsApp’s broader efforts to improve user experience and make managing large numbers of messages more convenient.
Stay tuned for more features as WhatsApp continues to refine and enhance its platform.
