Samsung Expands Its Smart Refrigerator Lineup with AI-Driven Innovations

Samsung Electronics has announced the introduction of its latest range of smart refrigerators, which are now available globally. This rollout is a key part of the company’s ambitious "Screens Everywhere" initiative, first unveiled at CES 2025. This new lineup includes several advanced features, most notably the integration of a 9-inch AI Home screen on models such as the 4-Door, 4-Door French Door, and Side-by-Side refrigerators. Additionally, select French Door and Side-by-Side models come equipped with an enhanced Family Hub screen.

Revolutionizing Kitchen Experience with AI and Connectivity

Samsung’s new refrigerators aim to transform everyday kitchen activities by incorporating the intuitive 9-inch AI Home screen, along with 32-inch or 21.5-inch Family Hub screens. These features are designed to enhance four crucial aspects of daily life: food management, home control, family communication, and entertainment.

The food management aspect is particularly advanced, thanks to the upgraded AI Vision Inside technology. This feature can now recognize 37 types of food items, including both fresh and processed foods. The AI Vision Inside suggests saving processed food items that have been frequently placed in the fridge, allowing users to store up to 50 items with custom names. With this enhanced food list, the refrigerator can offer personalized recipe recommendations and streamlined meal planning, making home cooking more efficient and tailored to individual preferences.

Beyond food management, these screens also bolster smart home connectivity. They integrate seamlessly into the smart home ecosystem, turning the refrigerator into a central hub for controlling various connected appliances across the home. With the inclusion of Map View, users can monitor and control Samsung appliances and even third-party smart home devices like lights and plugs. The system also features SmartThings Energy, which assists users in tracking and optimizing their energy consumption, thereby enhancing everyday efficiency. The display offers extensive home information, and users can issue voice commands via Samsung’s IoT voice assistant, Bixby.

Keeping Families Connected and Entertained

Samsung’s new refrigerators are also designed to strengthen family communication and entertainment. The Daily Board feature, positioned at the heart of the home, provides real-time updates throughout the day, such as morning weather forecasts and daily schedules, as well as energy consumption reports in the evening. By recognizing each family member’s voice, Bixby offers tailored responses, serving as a personalized assistant for the entire household. Additional family-oriented features include a shared gallery for storing cherished memories and a calendar for daily planning.

In terms of entertainment, Samsung’s refrigerators allow users to enjoy music and other media while in the kitchen. Spotify integration enables streaming of favorite tunes or podcasts directly from the fridge. The SmartView Mirroring feature supports seamless screen sharing from smartphones or Samsung TVs, and a dedicated gallery lets families display personal photos, adding a warm, personal touch to the kitchen environment.

Pioneering the Next Generation of Refrigeration

The 4-Door Refrigerator is crafted to meet the diverse needs of modern households with its innovative features. The 9-inch AI Home screen on select models ensures seamless integration with smart home systems. Models with Hybrid Cooling technology maintain produce freshness for longer periods while offering additional space, thanks to a compact Peltier module used for cooling. This module works alongside a conventional compressor to provide extra cooling when necessary, such as when the internal temperature rises or when AI predicts a potential increase. This is particularly useful after shopping trips or during frequent door openings in warm weather.

The 4-Door Refrigerator features a Kitchen Fit design that allows for easy installation with minimal gaps. The refrigerator doors are equipped with SpaceMax insulation technology, using less high-efficiency insulation material while increasing door space by 56% compared to previous models, resulting in a 10-liter capacity.

The 4-Door French Door Refrigerator, set to launch in North America, is available in various configurations, including a 32-inch Family Hub and a 9-inch AI Home. This variety enables users to select the most suitable option for their kitchen. The Auto Open Door feature ensures easy access with a simple touch, making the fridge accessible to everyone, regardless of circumstances. It also includes a Beverage Center with a water dispenser and a 1.4-liter Auto-Fill Water Pitcher that is both dishwasher safe and BPA free. This ensures a constant supply of fresh, filtered water, with the added option to infuse water with fruits and herbs.

The Side-by-Side Refrigerator offers multiple screen options, such as the 21.5-inch Family Hub and 9-inch AI Home. Designed for users who value easy access and organization, this model features an Auto Open Door that opens widely for convenient access to stored items. Select European models come with Hybrid Cooling technology, similar to the 4-Door refrigerator, to maintain freshness by preventing temperature fluctuations.

Energy Efficiency and User Convenience

All three refrigerator types incorporate the AI Energy Mode feature, allowing users to reduce energy consumption by up to an additional 10%. This mode can be activated either continuously or when electricity bills are predicted to exceed a preset target.

Samsung’s latest innovations continue to push the boundaries of the connected kitchen, transforming the refrigerator into a smart hub that enhances food management, smart home integration, and entertainment. By seamlessly combining AI-driven convenience with energy efficiency, Samsung is setting a new standard for how users interact with their appliances, bringing the future of the smart home to life.
