Many customers have expressed challenges in setting up DOKS clusters and ensuring reliable backups. With this new Agent-based solution, we aim to address these issues effectively. Consequently, we have deprecated support for Velero through SnapShooter and shifted our focus towards a more streamlined backup process that concentrates on database backups in DOKS.

The introduction of this feature allows users to install the Agent into their desired namespace and container with a single click. This setup enables immediate management of backup jobs. Similar to other backup options available through SnapShooter, users can easily configure backup frequency, retention policies, and storage locations.

Pricing

SnapShooter charges a management fee based on the number of backup jobs you run. It offers various pricing plans, with Kubernetes backups supported across all tiers. For example, if you are subscribed to the Startup tier, you can run up to 20 backup jobs. Setting up a single backup job for a DOKS cluster counts as one backup, allowing you to use the remaining 19 slots for other backup jobs. Essentially, the pricing structure for backups remains consistent, irrespective of the job type.

It is important to note that volume snapshots and backup storage costs are billed separately if you opt to use your own storage solutions.
