Motorola Razr to Spotlight Celebrity Row at Knicks and Rangers Games
NEW YORK (September 23, 2024) – Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. (NYSE: MSGS) (“MSG Sports”), Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. (NYSE: MSGE) (“MSG Entertainment”), and Sphere Entertainment Corp. (NYSE: SPHR) (collectively referred to as the “MSG Family of Companies”) have announced a significant multi-year partnership with global technology leader Lenovo (HKSE: LNVGY) and its subsidiary Motorola Mobility, a notable mobile smartphone manufacturer. Through this collaboration, Lenovo will serve as an Official Partner of Madison Square Garden, the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes, the New York Knicks, and the New York Rangers. Additionally, Lenovo will receive brand representation across MSG Networks. Motorola will also become an Official Partner of Madison Square Garden, the New York Knicks, and the New York Rangers.
The heart of the partnership between the MSG Family of Companies and Lenovo lies in community engagement, with a strong emphasis on supporting small businesses and community organizations. This will be achieved through various programs involving the New York Knicks and the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes. Furthermore, the partnership with Motorola will prominently feature high-profile, in-venue assets, notably as the exclusive title partner of Madison Square Garden’s renowned Celebrity Row.
“Collaborating with Lenovo and Motorola, both globally esteemed technology brands, aligns perfectly with the MSG Family of Companies as we continue to innovate in sports and entertainment,” said Jamaal Lesane, Chief Operating Officer, MSG Sports. “Together, we aim to deepen our shared commitment to community support and generate significant value for our businesses through prominent brand exposure.”
The MSG Family of Companies and Lenovo share a commitment to giving back to local communities. As part of this partnership, they will invest in several community-focused initiatives. One such initiative is the Lenovo Evolve Small program, which involves an ongoing contest in collaboration with the Knicks. This contest aims to support small businesses in the tri-state area, with ten winning businesses receiving technology upgrades from Lenovo to aid their growth. Additionally, one grand prize winner will be honored on-court at a Knicks game and will receive $50,000 worth of advertising on MSG Networks.
Lenovo will also partner with the Christmas Spectacular to offer a unique experience for a local community partner organization of the Garden of Dreams Foundation. This non-profit charity collaborates with the MSG Family of Companies to provide life-changing opportunities for young people in need. The experience will include a tour of Radio City Music Hall, a dance class led by the Rockettes, and tickets to the Christmas Spectacular.
“With nearly 150 years of history, Madison Square Garden is synonymous with unforgettable experiences,” said Ryan McCurdy, Senior Vice President and President of Lenovo North America. “Partnering with The Garden and the MSG Family of Companies was an obvious choice for us. Through this multi-year partnership, our iconic brands will enhance fan experiences and reach new audiences through engaging storytelling, all while making a tangible impact on the community.”
Starting this season, Motorola will become the exclusive title partner of Madison Square Garden’s famed Celebrity Row, the VIP seating areas at Knicks and Rangers home games for celebrity guests and notable figures. “Celebrity Row presented by motorola razr” will be prominently displayed across these premium seats and will feature on Knicks and Rangers social media channels, the arena’s center-hung media display known as GardenVision, and during select Knicks and Rangers broadcasts on MSG Networks. Additionally, Motorola will introduce a new VIP Photo Booth backstage for celebrities attending concerts and games at The Garden.
“This exciting collaboration with the MSG Family of Companies strengthens Motorola’s presence in North America by allowing us to establish new connections and expand our footprint in some of the world’s most dynamic cities,” said Rudi Kalil, President of Motorola North America. “Leveraging MSG’s world-class venues, resources, and properties, we are creating new opportunities for brand growth and visibility while setting the stage for unique and memorable consumer experiences.”
This extensive partnership will see Lenovo’s range of products, including laptops, desktops, tablets, workstations, and server hardware, integrated across the MSG Family of Companies’ iconic venues and premier sports and entertainment properties. The integration will be highlighted in commercials on MSG Networks throughout the partnership’s duration.
The marketing partnership will also provide Lenovo with exposure across several properties, including digital signage at The Garden during select concerts and Knicks and Rangers home games. Additionally, Lenovo will benefit from significant virtual signage displayed on the court and ice during Knicks and Rangers games broadcasted on MSG Networks. Lenovo will also be featured on a billboard in the Christmas Spectacular’s popular “New York at Christmas” Times Square scene.
Motorola will gain substantial brand exposure across the MSG Family of Companies’ venues and digital assets, including custom activations on the Exosphere – the fully-customizable LED exterior of Sphere in Las Vegas. To further engage the sports and lifestyle community and showcase the brand’s latest smartphones, the partnership will introduce unique influencer activities at Knicks and Rangers games and other live events at The Garden.
