NewsMonster Hunter Wilds Expands with New Monster on April 4

It’s been almost a month since the gaming community embraced the launch of “Monster Hunter Wilds” on the PlayStation 5 platform. The enthusiasm and support from players worldwide have been nothing short of remarkable. Whether you’re a seasoned hunter with a plethora of quests under your belt or someone embarking on their first hunting adventure with “Wilds,” we trust that you’re relishing the challenges and excitement this game offers, even long after the main story has concluded.

Today, we’re thrilled to unveil the latest development for “Monster Hunter Wilds” — the game’s inaugural Free Title Update. This update promises to expand the gaming experience with fresh content and exhilarating challenges.

### The Elegant Leviathan Mizutsune Joins the Wilds

The first major addition in this update is the introduction of the graceful yet formidable creature, Mizutsune. Known for its enchanting movements that resemble a dance and its ability to unleash disarming bubbles, Mizutsune is a sight to behold. Players are encouraged to prepare their gear and brace themselves for the challenge of facing this returning monster for the first time in “Monster Hunter Wilds.”

Alongside Mizutsune, players will have the opportunity to craft new and stylish armor sets for both their hunters and their trusty feline companions, the Palicos. For those seeking an even greater challenge, an eight-star Tempered Mizutsune will also be available. To embark on the Mizutsune quest, players should seek out Kanya at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp, provided they have achieved Hunter Rank (HR) 21 or higher.

### Arch-Tempered Rey Dau in an Event Quest

Previously considered the pinnacle of difficulty, Tempered monsters have been the ultimate test for hunters in “Monster Hunter Wilds.” However, with Free Title Update 1, a new level of challenge is introduced with the arrival of the Arch-Tempered variant of Rey Dau. This formidable foe awaits hunters who have reached HR 50 or above when it makes its debut in an Event Quest on April 30.

Accompanying this challenge are the new Rey Dau γ (gamma) and Felyne Rey Dau γ (gamma) armor sets, which players can forge by defeating the Arch-Tempered Rey Dau. It’s advisable for hunters to hone their skills and ensure their gear is in top condition to tackle this daunting adversary.

### Revisit the Menace of Zoh Shia

The fearsome Zoh Shia makes a return in High Rank with the Free Title Update 1. Initially, hunters could only face this beast once during the story campaign. However, the update allows for repeated encounters. From April 4, a new mission will be accessible to hunters who have reached HR 50 and above.

Players can engage with the Zoh Shia quest by selecting it from the Environment Overview. Additionally, Zoh Shia might appear randomly, becoming a quest option during the Wyvern’s Wakening event in the Ruins of Wyveria. Defeating Zoh Shia will yield materials that can be used to forge new High Rank equipment for both hunters and their Palicos.

### A New Social Hub: The Grand Hub

Introducing the Grand Hub, a vibrant new social space where hunters can gather, communicate, and partake in unique activities. Historically a place of worship for the people of Suja, the Grand Hub offers a range of engaging experiences. At night, hunters may be serenaded by the Diva’s occasional offerings.

For those looking to unwind, the Grand Hub features a new mini-game, Barrel Bowling. Players can roll barrel bombs into targets to score points and earn useful items and pendants for their hunts. To participate, hunters will need Barrel Bowling Vouchers, obtainable through various means, including login bonuses.

Hunters can also enjoy culinary delights prepared by Felynes in the Grand Hub, while socializing and strategizing with fellow hunters around the communal table. The Grand Hub is accessible to those who have reached Hunter Rank 16 and above by speaking to Tetsuzan in Suja, the Peaks of Accord.

### Arena Quests and Competitive Challenges

Arena Quests make their return in “Monster Hunter Wilds.” These quests challenge up to two hunters to complete objectives as quickly as possible using predetermined gear. Hunters can compare their completion times against others globally through the Expedition Record Board.

Additionally, the update introduces Challenge Quests and Free Challenge Quests. These limited-time Event Quests offer pendants as rewards, with special pendants available based on personal completion times and world rankings. While Challenge Quests require predetermined gear and are limited to two hunters, Free Challenge Quests have no restrictions and allow up to four players. Support Hunters can join in both quest types.

### Customization and Downloadable Content

The update includes an option to change the outfit of Alma, a character in the game, via the camp’s Appearance Menu. By completing specific side missions, players can also alter Alma’s glasses. A free outfit for Alma will be available, encouraging players to explore this new customization feature.

For those seeking additional content, the update provides free downloadable content, including Alma’s outfit and classic gestures from the Monster Hunter series, available through the PlayStation Store. Cosmetic DLC Pack 1 will also be available for purchase, either as part of the Cosmetic DLC Pass included in the Premium Deluxe Edition or separately.

### Celebrate the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance

From April 23 to May 7, players can partake in the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance, held in the Grand Hub. This seasonal event transforms the decor and cuisine of the Grand Hub, offering limited-time equipment, gestures, and pop-up camp decorations.

This concludes the key content additions in the first Free Title Update. Beyond the features detailed above, the update will incorporate various fixes and adjustments. Looking ahead, another update is planned for May, featuring a collaboration with another Capcom title and further enhancements.

The second Free Title Update is scheduled for release this summer, promising even more exciting developments. Stay tuned for further updates and, in the meantime, enjoy the thrilling world of “Monster Hunter Wilds.” Happy hunting!
