Are you looking to connect your Oculus Quest 2 to a Roku TV? If yes, then this blog will give you a detailed step-by-step process to do that. As an Oculus user, you may have faced challenges like being unable to cast your Oculus Quest 2 on your Roku TV. It does not show up on your list of devices which happens as Roku TV does not support the smartcast feature that Oculus functions on.

However, there is a workaround you can use which is to cast your Oculus Quest to your phone and then mirror your screen to your Roku TV. Furthermore, you can also connect a Chromecast to your Roku TV and cast to it. So without any further ado, let’s find out how to connect your Oculus Quest to your TV.

Method 1: How to screen mirror from your mobile phone Oculus Quest 2?

First and foremost, make sure that your phone, TV, and Oculus are connected to Wi-Fi. All your devices like Oculus Quest, Roku TV, and your iPhone or iPad share the same strong Wi-Fi connection.

Secondly, open the screen access menu on your iPhone by swiping down from the upper-right corner. On Android smartphones like Samsung Galaxy, you can swipe down from the top of the screen to see the notifications menu. Furthermore, scroll down from the icons at the top of the screen to display a complete list of the Quick access icons.

Thirdly, on your iPhone or iPad, you can mirror your screen using AirPlay. Now click on the icon that looks like two overlapping rectangles and start mirroring your screen. For Samsung Galaxy users, there is an option for using smart view for the screen mirrors. Click on the smart view icon available in the Quick Acess menu to start it.

Side note: The smart view option is only available on Samsung Galaxy devices and not on other android phones. Moreover, Galaxy users have to swipe left when they want to scroll to the next page of Quick access icons to find the smart view icon.

Oculus Quest 2

Connect with your Roku TV for Oculus Quest 2

Check your Wi-Fi network for a list of connected devices. Basically now you should be able to see all the devices that you wish to connect to the Roku TV. Now click on Roku TV and start screen mirroring your TV. For security purposes, the phone will ask you to enter a code displayed on the television or click on a confirmation message before it lets you proceed.

After that tap on Allow with your TV remote when your TV prompts you. Only after this, your phone will connect to your TV and mirror your phone’s screen mirrored on your TV. Now go to the Meta Quest App which is a White color rectangle box with an elongated capital O. Launch the app. If you don’t have the app already on your phone, then you can install it from either your Google Play store on Android or the app store on iPhone and iPad.

Connect Your Oculus Quest 2 Strap

You can now strap on your Oculus Quest 2 and tap on the power button which is on the right side to switch it on. Furthermore, you have to click on the flat button with an elongated “O” which is on the right controller. After you do this, the Oculus menu will be displayed at the bottom of the vision.

Oculus Quest for Roku

Now to select the share menu, you have to click on the Pink icon with a curved arrow pointing toward the right in the Oculus menu. You have to aim at the controller and squeeze the trigger button to select it.

Tap on the cast which is the first option in the upper-left corner of the share menu. Furthermore, select the Meta Quest mobile app and click on Next. Again, select the meta quest mobile app from the list of devices and tap on the Blue button which says Next at the bottom. It will cast your Oculus Quest 2 to your mobile phone app which is then mirrored to the TV screen.

Moreover, if you are unable to connect your Oculus Quest 2 to your mobile app, ensure Bluetooth is switched on your mobile phone. Then click on Menu from the lower-left corner of the Meta Quest app and then click on Devices. It will tell you if your Oculus Quest is connected at the top.

Method 2: Use a Chromecast

In case you don’t know what a Chromecast is, it is a streaming device from Google that one can connect to their TV and allows them to cast from their mobile phones. Or for those with Oculus Quest on their TV. Moreover, you can buy a Chromecast online wherein the HD model may cost around $30 and the 4K UHD model is approximately $40.

To connect the Chromecast to your TV, you can connect it to any free HDMI port on the back of your television. After you connect the Chromecast to your TV, you can connect your USB cable and plug it in. You need to go through a setup process using the Google Home app on your smartphone the first time you connect it.

Oculus for gaming

Tap on the home button on the Roku remote from the home page and choose the input that the Chromecast you have connected it to. You should be able to locate it from the top of the channel page. The Chromecast by default will display images of art and Earth pictures from Google when nothing is streamed.

Use the Oculus Quest 2

After the next step, you can go ahead and strap on your Oculus Quest and tap on the power button. It is located on the right side. Again, the Oculus button is an elongated O button on the right controller which displays the main menu. Similar to the previous step, it is a Pink color icon with a curved arrow pointing toward the right. Furthermore, aim at this icon in the Oculus menu and press the trigger button to select this option. Tap on the cast which is the first option from the upper-left corner of the share menu.

Conclusion

You can now select your Chromecast device and tap on Next. You should be able to see your Chromecast device in the list of devices that allow you to cast. After selecting, tap on the Blue button with the words Next. In this way, your Oculus Quest will start streaming directly to your Chromecast on your TV.
