Apple will unveil the iPhone 14 in September 2022 at the Apple event, but rumors are already spreading on the internet like a wildfire. The recent leak first look of the Apple iPhone 14 was all over the internet and since then the speculations about the Apple 2022 flagship phones are increasing.
If you believe the rumors, iPhone 14 will be nearly identical to iPhone 13 in look and feel. However, speculations suggest that the mini model will no longer be a part of the iPhone 14 variants. Instead, the iPhone Max version flaunting its 6.7-inch screen size will make its way into the lineup.
As seen in the previous iPhone series, subtle design changes, new processors, and improved camera specs will only be a part of the Pro and Pro-Max lineup. That is done to hype the premium lineup from the basic ones.

This year, Apple is all set to introduce significant changes in the pro-line-up of the iPhone 14. That will widen the gap between the standard iPhone 14 variants and the pro versions. This will help the customers to make a clear choice between the two categories.
Most of the time, Apple reuses the basic product design of its iPhone over many flagship cycles. This is done to decrease the production cost significant cost and increase the margin. Previously, the flat design of the iPhone 12 got carried to the iPhone 13 with only a few transformations made in the external case. Keeping this in mind, you shouldn’t expect any big re-design in the 2022 iPhone lineup.
Let’s take a look at the expected features of the iPhone 14.
iPhone 14 Features
The features and functionality that will be a part of the iPhone 14 will be dependent on the iOS updates. Apple will make changes to the iPhone 14 processor and camera. Apart from this, some changes will be made in the hardware aspects of the iPhone as well. These changes will control the operation of the new version of iOS.
Design trends
As a rumor suggests, iPhone 14 is going to be very similar to the iPhone 13 model in terms of the overall design. With launching iPhone 12, Apple got rid of the round-edge design that was a part of the iPhone since the iPhone 6. Since iPhone 12, Apple has shifted to the flat edge design flaunting thinner bezels and diverting the focus to the display screen. However, Apple still included the original notch design and the buttons that were introduced in the iPhone X.
The previously introduced iPhone 13 possessed identical similar elements, and this way, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 models are so identical that it is not easy to distinguish between the two. Only a few changes have been observed near the rear camera bump along with the notch design.
If rumors are to be believed, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will not be different from the iPhone 13 lineup. According to Jon Prosser, Apple is looking forward to including a thicker chassis in the iPhone 14 without the rear camera bump and the round volume buttons on the side. However, this information may not be true if you adhere to the latest leaks.
The latest iPhone 14 design leaks in March depict that the iPhone 14 models will not see any change in the design as they will feature the same look as iPhone 13. Moreover, Apple will also retain the standard notch design and the camera bump with the diagonal camera placement.

iPhone 14 Size Options
As known, Apple will no longer continue with the Mini version in the iPhone 14, owing to the lackluster sales of the same. So, iPhone 13 will be the last variant in the mini version, and Apple will now be focusing on the large display-sized iPhone.
In this regard, we are expecting to see an iPhone 14 with a 6.1-inch screen and iPhone 14 Pro will have a 6.1-inch screen size Moreover, the iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max will flaunt a large 6.7-inch screen size eliminating the Mini screen options.
Titanium
According to the investors’ report by JP Morgan Chase, Apple might include the high-end titanium alloy chassis design in the iPhone 14 models. Apple already uses the titanium alloy in the Apple Watch design, but it would be the first time that the alloy will find its place in the iPhone series.
Apple will be including Titanium in its iPhone design due to its scratch-resistant and corrosion-resistant properties design and since it is much stronger than the steel and aluminum alloys.

Cooling
With iPhone 14, all the premium iPhone variants will feature a vapor chamber thermal system that Apple is in the testing phase. The VC thermal system will be an essential part of the iPhone owing to its stronger computational capabilities and better 5G connectivity.
Though the vapor chamber thermal system will be a new feature in iPhone, many smartphone manufacturing companies like Samsung, Razer, and LG have already adapted the vapor chamber cooling technology. This has already proved to be successful in keeping the device cooler when operating under stressful conditions.
It isn’t clear if the technology will meet the expectations of Apple, but Apple will surely improve it to make it a part of the high-end models in the future.
Lightning Port
Apple is rumored to work on getting rid of the Lightning port from the iPhone to adapt the portless design. The charging will be done with the MagSafe charger. But it is too early to say whether it will be a part of the 2022 iPhone models or not.
It would be safe to say that some of the iPhones models will still have the Lightning port even if Apple gets rid of them from the Max and Pro-Max versions.
Camera Technology
It is being said that all the iPhone 14 variants will feature an improved Ultra-Wide camera. The Pro iPhone 14 models will see improvements in the wide-angle camera and the telephoto lens.
According to the Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Pro iPhone 14 models will have a 48-megapixel Wide camera. That will include the major improvements when compared with the current 12-megapixel camera as seen in the iPhone 13 models. Besides, it will also have 8K video recording capabilities.
The iPhone 14 models will have the pixel-binning feature that will be capable of capturing the 12-megapixel shots from the 48-megapixel camera. Pixel binning feature combines data of the small pixels within the image sensor to make one superpixel to enhance the low-light sensitivity.
iPhone 14 Pro models will be able to produce high-quality images in situations with good lighting, but will also use the pixel binning process in other situations with low lighting to create higher-quality images.
The 8K video recording feature will display the recorded video on an 8k display device or a smart TV to offer a better user experience. These videos will be better suited for viewing on augmented and mixed reality devices such as Apple’s AR/VR headset that will be launching soon. However, it is being said that the 8K video and the 48-MP wide lens camera will only be a part of the Pro models, and the standard iPhone 14 models will only have a simple camera setup.
A16 Chip
If we look at the previous trends, Apple always introduces a new iteration of the A-series chip with every iPhone upgrade, but Apple might take a break from this trend in 2022. Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple analyst indicated that only iPhone 14 Pro models will feature a new and powerful A16 chip.
On the other hand, the standard iPhone 14 variants will still be using the old good A15 Bionic. Previously, this bionic chipset was also a part of the iPhone 13 models. This will be a major difference in the Pro and non-Pro lineup of the iPhone 14.
Apple is reportedly using TSMC’s family of 5-nanometer processors in the new iPhone models. The A16 chip will be built on the NP4 process, which TSMC claims are the third major enhancement of that family.
RAM
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro both will have 6GB RAM, which is the exact amount of RAM we saw in the iPhone 13 Pro model.
Car Crash Detection
Apple is currently in the process of creating a car crash detection system for the iPhone and Apple Watch which it will release this year. The program will employ sensors such as the accelerometer to figure out car accidents when they occur. This would be possible by analyzing the increase in the gravitational force.
When the iPhone 14 or Apple Watch will detect a car crash, it would be able to reach out to emergency services to seek help automatically. Most probably this technology will be a part of the Apple Watch Series 8 and iPhone 14 in 2022. However, we are hoping that might also be available on the previous iterations of the iPhones and Apple Watches.

Snapdragon X65 Modem
The new iterations of the iPhone will flaunt the Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 modem, which is the world’s only 10 Gigabit 5G modem and antenna system ever made.
RF Chip
Taiwan’s Economic Daily News says that Apple is planning to order 5G RF chips from TSMC. Apple will use its technology instead of adapting the Samsung chips.
The next generation of 5G chips will offer smaller processors with lower power consumption and increased efficiency. This could mean better battery life for devices utilizing this technology, and an improved WiFi 6E technology.
Satellite Connectivity
Some of the devices on Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 will be able to access the satellite signals. As a result, Qualcomm has formed a partnership with Apple Inc. to develop satellite-based devices for emergencies. These new devices would be helpful when there is no cellular coverage.
Emergency messages connected to the satellite will enable the users to reach out to the emergency services via text message whenever they want to. It will also offer a new protocol alongside SMS, and iMessage technology. This will allow sending messages with grey bubbles without any restrictions on the length of messages.
Features like reporting major events with satellite networks and emergencies such as plane crashes and fires are still in work but will be ready by 2022.
WiFi 6E
According to the Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 14 will have WiFi 6E connectivity He says that this connectivity would allow for high-speed wireless transmissions necessary for AR and VR experiences. He also predicts its uses in a mixed reality headset which will launch in 2022 itself.
With the WiFi 6 standard, the 6GHz band and bands in the 2.4GHz and 5Ghz can work together to range more efficiently and allow more performance, while also reducing interference and boosting the performance of the WiFi 6 specification.
2TB Storage
Rumors suggest that with the iPhone 14 update, Apple could increase the storage to 2TB. Previously, the iPhone Pro Max featured a 1 TB storage space. However, we still need some evidence from a reliable source to back up the rumor, so take it with skepticism.
No Physical SIM Slot
Apple is allegedly preparing to launch iPhones without a physical SIM slot by 2022. These new iPhones could have an eSIM only design, which means that the iPhone 14 models might be the very first iPhone variants that will launch without a physical SIM slot.
With the iPhone 13, there are some models without a nano-SIM. Instead, it will be possible to activate the cellular plans with an eSIM that puts cellular plans onto a device without the use of a SIM card.
The eSIM is not compatible in all countries, so iPhones in some regions will need to feature the old nano-SIM card. In countries where consumers can buy a SIM-free iPhone, there is an option to buy one that has a traditional SIM card. There are more than 60 countries that the eSIM will work in, and Apple’s website has a list of those regions.

Biometrics
The iPhone has shifted to using Face ID as its biometric, but Touch ID remains in products like the iPad, iPhone SE, and MacBook for some users. Some users prefer Touch ID and have been calling for it to come back on flagship iPhones.
For the 2022 iPhone, Ming-Chi Kuo is saying that the Touch ID will no longer be a part of the power button. Rumors say that Apple could include both Face ID and Touch ID, but it would be difficult for technology to work at a high level of efficiency in this case.
Hence, you can say that Apple will continue with the same Face ID system which was part of the iPhone 13.
iPhone 14 pricing
Apple tends to stick to a price point for a few years. Most often than not, market trends and currency rates do not affect the iPhone 14 pricing list.
The price of the iPhone 14 will depend on Apple’s previous pricing strategies. They have yet to reveal their plans for prices, but it is likely the “iPhone 14” will cost similar to the iPhone 13 ($799).
The iPhone Max 14 will cost $899, which is a step below the iPhone Pro price of $999.
