Samsung wellness council member Dr. Vanessa Hill discusses the various problems one can face if one’s sleep cycle is messed up. In an interview with Samsung Newsroom, Dr. Hill disclosed some key insights regarding the connection between sleep and technology. Sleep, as we all know, is one of the pillars of a healthy body and a healthy mind. No matter how much we follow a healthy diet and do rigorous exercise, we will not become truly healthy without optimal sleep.
Dr. Vanessa shares that everyone is different, and so is their requirement of sleep. A person with a desk job and a sedentary lifestyle may need six hours of sleep. While those who are in physical labour may struggle with less than eight hours of sleep. Moreover, she also says that humans spend one-third of their lives sleeping. So it is, therefore, appropriate that we take a moment to understand how two very important things in our lives, aka technology and sleep, come together to make our lives easier.

Her study focuses on the pre-sleep period, which includes people’s evening routines and sleep habits, to name a few.
Moreover, she is constantly trying to come up with new strategies that can help people reduce Blue light before they go to bed. It all comes down to people’s relationship with technology and how to use it. Additionally, she also created a reality TV show on Youtube Originals, which was called” Sleeping with Friends”. Dr. Hill is also working as the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) ambassador aiming towards those women who are working for STEM.
Importance of Sleep on Individual’s Health
Samsung Newsroom then proceeded to learn more about the importance of sleep in our lives and for our bodies. To this, she says that sleep is the single most important factor that contributes to our well-being. The best part is that we can control it. She also adds that the duration and quality of sleep are also very important. Good sleep helps us to recover from injuries, build muscles, relax our brains, and improve our day-to-day mood.
Additionally, she says that good sleep is linked to our daytime physical activity and is important for our holistic health. It is, therefore, important to maintain a balance between physical exercise and sleep if an individual wants to take care of their physical and mental well-being.
What Habits Affect Our Quality of Sleep?
According to Dr. Vanessa, in today’s time, most people are not able to get quality sleep. Everyone’s busy in their life, running from one end to the other. Their stress levels are through the roof, and they are leading a sedentary lifestyle and eating processed food on the go. How Can the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series Help Users Improve Their Sleep?
