General Announcement of Request for Information

Advanced Capabilities for Emergency Response Operations

NASA is leveraging this Request for Information (RFI) to identify technologies that can address significant challenges faced by the wildland firefighting community. The focus areas include data collection, airborne connectivity and communication solutions, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) traffic management, aircraft operations, and autonomy. Responses to this RFI will help shape future collaborative demonstrations and partnerships.

Submission Deadline: October 15, 2023, by 4 p.m. ET. Submissions are only accepted from U.S. companies and must be submitted via NASA’s ACERO RFI page. Proprietary information should be clearly marked.

General Advanced Air Mobility Announcement of Request for Information

This RFI aims to gather market research to inform NASA’s decisions about potential partnership strategies and research directions to enable Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). NASA seeks input from public, private, and academic institutions to identify technical needs and community interests for future AAM research and development.

NASA Research Announcement (NRA) Process

ARMD uses the NRA process to invite proposals for foundational research aimed at enhancing NASA’s core capabilities. The competition is open to both academic institutions and industry participants.

    General Information about NRA Process

  • NRA solicitations are published through NASA’s NSPIRES system.
  • Technical work is managed by project teams within four key programs: Advanced Air Vehicles Program, Airspace Operations and Safety Program, Integrated Aviation Systems Program, and Transformative Aeronautics Concepts Program.
  • Awards originate from NASA’s Langley Research Center, Ames Research Center, Glenn Research Center, and Armstrong Flight Research Center.
  • Participation is open to all categories of organizations, including educational institutions, industry, and nonprofits.
  • Any updates or amendments to NRAs are posted on the NSPIRES web pages.
  • Notifications of updates are sent through the NSPIRES email system. Interested parties must be Registered Users of NSPIRES to receive these notifications.

    Amendments to NRA

    Amendment 1

    This amendment to the NASA ARMD Research Opportunities in Aeronautics (ROA) 2024 NRA is available on the NSPIRES website. The announcement solicits proposals from accredited U.S. institutions for research training grants, focusing on innovation and measurable research results that align with NASA’s science and technology goals.

    Amendment 3

    The Commercial Supersonic Technology initiative seeks proposals for a fuel injector design concept and fabrication for testing at NASA Glenn Research Center. The goal is to advance low NOx supersonic cruise technology while meeting reasonable NOx emissions during landing and take-off.
