NewsAstro’s Playroom Update Adds Hidden Special Bot In-Game

Hello Tech Enthusiasts!

As we approach the summer season, we hope you’ve been enjoying the recent gaming news. Today, we have some exciting updates for you regarding the highly anticipated launch of Astro Bot, scheduled for September 6. Team Asobi has a few surprises up their sleeves for the gaming community, and we’re here to give you all the details.

Astro Bot’s Mission: A Nostalgic Adventure

Astro Bot is set to take players on a thrilling mission to rescue a 300-bot crew scattered across various galaxies. What’s unique about this crew is that many of the bots are cameo characters who have left an indelible mark on PlayStation history. There are over 150 bots to collect, each featuring humorous animations that harken back to the games they originally appeared in.

Hidden Surprises in Astro’s Playroom

To add an extra layer of fun and engagement, Team Asobi has hidden four special bots within Astro’s Playroom, which comes pre-loaded on every PlayStation 5 console. By unlocking these hidden characters in Astro’s Playroom, players can incorporate them into their starting crew in Astro Bot.

The First Special Bot: Lady Maria

On June 7, the first of these special bots was introduced. Team Asobi turned this into a treasure hunt, challenging the community to solve a riddle to unlock the bot. Impressively, it took the community less than three hours to crack the code.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to unlock Lady Maria:

  1. Locate the Secret Capsule: Head to the first area of GPU Jungle, also known as Render Forest. Near the edge of the level, behind the Bloodborne Hunter Bot, you’ll find a large plant. Stand on top of this plant to make a secret capsule appear.
  2. Find the Clock Symbol: The capsule features an image of a clock. Look around the level to find a similar clock symbol carved into a tree. This tree is located at the back of the area and requires a few jumps to reach.
  3. Pause the Game: Stand on the spot with the clock symbol and press the options button to pause the game. This action brings up a special Astral Clock screen.
  4. Enter the Code: Input the date 24.11.2015 (November 24, 2015), which is the release date of the Bloodborne DLC featuring Lady Maria. This will cause the clock hands to turn.
  5. Free Lady Maria: The capsule will open, freeing Lady Maria. You’ll also earn a trophy for your efforts. Lady Maria will then wait for you in the Mission Room, ready to be transferred to Astro Bot.

    The Second Special Bot: Selene

Recently, Team Asobi introduced the second special bot, Selene, from the PS5 title Returnal. Once again, the community worked together to solve the riddle and unlock Selene, bringing the count to two out of four special bots.

    Exciting Updates and Future Riddles

In addition to these special bots, the PlayStation Labo has received an update. Players are encouraged to explore this update and add new artifacts to their collection. The treasure hunt isn’t over yet—Team Asobi has promised two more riddles leading up to the release of Astro Bot. Given the community’s quick success with the first two riddles, the upcoming challenges might be even more difficult.

    A Walk Down Memory Lane

For those who may not be familiar, Astro’s Playroom is a delightful platformer that comes pre-installed on the PlayStation 5. It serves as both a showcase for the console’s capabilities and a nostalgic trip through PlayStation’s history. The game is filled with references to iconic PlayStation titles, making it a treat for long-time fans of the brand.

    Community Reactions

The community’s response to these treasure hunts has been overwhelmingly positive. Players have praised Team Asobi for the creative and engaging ways they’ve integrated these special bots into Astro’s Playroom. The quick resolution of the riddles is a testament to the community’s enthusiasm and collaborative spirit.

    Technical Jargon Simplified

For those who might be new to some of the terms used:

    • Capsule: In gaming, a capsule often refers to a container that holds a reward or surprise.
    • Astral Clock: This is a fictional clock used within the game to unlock special features.
    • Mission Room: A designated area in the game where players can manage their missions and characters.

      Final Thoughts

Team Asobi’s innovative approach to integrating special bots into Astro’s Playroom has added a layer of excitement and engagement for players eagerly awaiting Astro Bot’s release. The riddles not only provide a fun challenge but also deepen the connection to PlayStation’s rich history.

As we look forward to the next set of riddles, it’s clear that Team Asobi has successfully captured the community’s imagination. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or new to the PlayStation ecosystem, there’s something in Astro Bot and Astro’s Playroom for everyone to enjoy.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the launch of Astro Bot. Happy gaming!

      Team Asobi out.
